About

In July of 1983, Carol Upshaw began a summer program for children based on her love for the plays of William Shakespeare. Her program is alive with the sounds of children laughing and learning.

Carol’s special ability lies in opening young minds to an historic time and a great body of literature.

In a documentary celebrating its first ten years, we see Carol and her staff’s talented and creative ideas for reaching children and evoking an enchantment with renaissance times and the “Bard of Avon!”

This program is endorsed by Sir Ian McKellen, RSC/NT, recipient of the prestigious Lawrence Olivier Best Actor Award, UK; Sam Wanamaker, Actor, Director Emeritus, Globe Theatre, London; Dr. Levi Fox, Oxford Scholar, Director Emeritus, Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, Stratford-upon-Avon.

Shakespeare for Kids is a 501 (3) (c) Non-Profit Corporation and admits students of any race, sex, national or ethnic origin.
